High-temperature, integral insulation for exhaust systems
Integral insulation is used for the protection of temperature-sensitive engine components against radiant heat and to improve the operation (thermal management) of catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters. Developed specifically for use in motorsport, the integral insulation is made up of a 0.1 mm thick, spherically embossed stainless steel foil (outer shell) and a high-temperature-resistant 4 - 12 mm thick fibre mat (insulating material). The thinness of these materials keeps the extra weight of the insulation to a minimum. HJS’s integral insulation stands out thanks to its excellent long-term durability at temperatures of over 1000°C. It can be used for all components subjected to high temperatures, such as exhaust manifolds, exhaust pipes, catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters and silencers.
